Thanal is a project envisaged by Kerala State Council for Child Welfare to extend assistance to the children in trouble and to rehabilitate them properly. BSNL allotted a toll free telephone number 1517 and a call center has been arranged to collect and route all the calls received in this number. All the requests received through the toll free number will be routed to concerned district offices. All the districts have district cells of Thanal under the control of District Council for Child Welfare and experienced volunteers will attend to each issue and will extend required assistances of varying nature. The formal inauguration of the Thanal project was made by the Hon: Chief Minister on 1st November 2017. Since its launch, around 7000 issues related to children have been attended by the volunteers till the date.
